Florida Science Talent Search

On March 9, 2002 the results of the Florida Science Talent Search were announced. The top 6 students, listed in alphabetical order, received

Awards of Excellence:

Congratulations to these 12 students for the outstanding work they have done. Jennifer Bennett and Francisco Fantes were awarded to the trips to the Science Camp in West Virginia in July with Amit Jain and Christopher Rogan as the alternates. Amit Rayamazhi and Ana Thomas will receive the FJAS scholarships if they attend Florida schools. The AAAS memberships were given to Janelle Gooden and Yash Purandare.

The Florida Science Talent Search is a separate competition for seniors only that occurs at the same time as FJAS. It does require a separate application, personal information, and a registration of $5 at the competition.


2002 FJAS Competition

Out of the 431 FJAS members 200 submitted papers for the preliminary judging by February 1st. With the help of a team of judges 120 were selected to present at the competition at Barry University on March 9, 2002. Eighty-six students presented their research.

This state competition could not have been possible if it had not been for many volunteers.

Thanks also goes to each member for participating and making FJAS what it is today. Also thanks goes to your parents who have helped you be who you are today.

During the Business Meeting Stranahan High was elected once again to the Presidency and Spruce Creek High was elected the Vice Presidential Chapters. It was announced that the 2003 competition would probably be at the University of Central Florida. The date is still to be determined.
